Thomas Berndorfer, Forbes technology council member, speaks about data sovereignty in the cloud

Forbes

Connecting Software CEO, Thomas Berndorfer, was featured in Forbes this week as part of his role in the Forbes technology council. He spoke about data sovereignty issues that are increasingly plaguing major cloud providers.

He provided an analysis of why many companies are questioning their reliance on cloud:

“Many companies are reconsidering their reliance on the cloud for their core systems, indicating a potentially seismic shift in how global data is stored. There are a variety of reasons for this, from doubts about the security of tech giants following large data leaks to outages that have left businesses essentially adrift. We saw this clearly during the most recent outage of AWS, which one analyst said had an economic impact that could reach "in the hundreds of billions" due to losses in productivity associated with unavailable services.

Indeed, part of the reason many providers chose the cloud—its cost—is continually undermined as providers raise prices over time once customers are locked in.

Many of these issues are nothing new, but increasingly, one issue is becoming more acute: data sovereignty.”

Connecting Software provides solutions for both cloud-based and on-prem setups, allowing businesses to unlock efficiency and productivity while having the flexibility to choose the environment that works best for them.
