Blockchain and Data Integrity
Thomas Berndorfer, Connecting Software CEO, was featured in this month's edition of Nuclear Engineering International (page 94). He argued that in the wake of the significant data fraud scandal at the Hamaoka nuclear power plant in Japan, the nuclear industry needed to be much more serious about data verification and establish a unified blockchain standard for verifying that data had not been manipulated.
He said that:
"a blockchain-based data integrity standard would mean that regulators, organisations and managers can identify data integrity issues much more easily. Such a system could act as a quicker and more adaptable response to data manipulation, and a significant disincentive to further reputationally damaging scandals in the future"
