At Connecting Software, we believe the wellbeing and welfare of our employees must always come first. Our team enjoys flexible working hours, coffee and tea availability, being responsible for their work, and working together with the desire to keep accomplishing. We feel that we have attained a strong team spirit that is felt from the moment you walk into our office doors.
We rely on a heavily motivated team to carry out our day-to-day operations. Activities such as social events and regular company drinking are among the best ways we found to bring our colleagues closer together and build the team spirit every company seeks (or should seek) for their employees.
As a result, we throw a Summer Party every year – and this year’s was memorable! Since we also have a development hub in Malacky (Slovakia), we decided to fly in our central European colleagues, as well as our remote employees, to Madeira Island to show them the Pearl of the Atlantic and the array of activities it offers its residents and visitors. Here is a quick sequence of events from our Summer Party:
Friday, September 16th 2022
Towards the end of the workday, we gave a tour of the office to our Slovakian and remote teammates, where we took some very needed group photos while chatting away over some tasty snacks and cooling drinks for the summer weather. Afterward, we went to Rei da Poncha, a typical Madeiran bar, to show our colleagues what the Madeiran traditional drink (Poncha) is like.
Saturday, September 17th 2022
This was the main day of our Summer Party. We collected our team from the office and started off the adventure! In Madeira, there is an unimaginable number of natural walking paths that run through the island’s mountains, so we decided this was a must-see for our Slovakian and remote teammates! The chosen trail was Vereda do Fanal, as it runs through the mountains on the western part of the island, displaying a beautiful scenery and breathtaking landscapes to its walkers.
Afterward, since the sun was shining on the south coast of the island, we decided to go for a swim and a few snacks at Ponta do Sol. Translating its name directly, this southern municipality is called “Tip of the Sun”, due to its incredible weather throughout most of the year.
Towards the end of the day, to wrap up our Summer Party, the Slovakian, Madeiran, and remote teams went to a traditional restaurant to taste the typical Madeiran cuisine. Espetada (meat roasted on a skewer), bolo do caco (flat bread with garlic butter), and brisa maracujá (regional passion fruit flavored soda) were all present!
Our colleagues spent the following day in Madeira on their own, enjoying the island in a free-style way. We are glad they went home knowing more about Madeira and our office. This Summer Party allowed our three teams to unite and see each other in person for the first time. It was a unique experience that brought everyone closer together, and we look forward to our future reunions!
